Over the holidays I received a wonderful bath gift set that was packaged in a vintage 40’s-50s era theme. It was so clever and I was jealous I didn’t think of it (to be honest). However, a quick glance at the ingredients quickly turned my excitement into discouragement. It was chock full of things I couldn’t pronounce, controversial ingredients, coloring and fragrances. It was disappointing to say the least, but it was at this moment that it really hit home that we really do buy with our eyes first.
This was obviously not the best product on the shelf, but they purchased it because it stood out and was eye catching on the shelf. Will this make a repeat purchase for the brand for many customers, in my opinion, simply no.
Competing with larger brands who have bigger budgets for packaging is something I struggle with on a daily basis. However, I want repeat customers. I want my customers to look at my product and be able to know it is safe for them to use and also be something they love to use at the same time. I believe it is important to know what is in the products you are putting on your skin.
I take extreme pride in the packaging I have created so far and my main goal is to give you the customer the best product I can and know that you will love it and come back for more. Additionally, I know that one day I will have that bigger budget and can create the packaging of my dreams :)
